The new Canadian Organic Standards are comprised of two documents:
1. Organic Production Systems General Principles and Management Standards (CAN/CGSB 32-310-2006 amended 2008)
2. Organic Production Systems Permitted Substances list (PSL) (CAN/CGSB 32-311- 2006 amended 2008)
The Certified Organic Association of BC (COABC) adopted the Canada Organic Standard as the standard for the BC Certified Organic Program and as of June 30, 2009 the Canadian Standards and Regulations were implemented nationally.
It is a FVOPA requirement to obtain a copy of the current Canadian Standards (CAN/CGSB 32-310-2006 amended 2008) and Permitted Substances List (CAN/CGSB 32-311- 2006 amended 2008) to gain an understanding of the Canadian organic regime before you apply.
